WEEK NINE RESULTS

This week marked the momentous occasion of the Koop's Tri-Annual Winnipeg visit and subsequent attendance at Friday's Bomber-Argonaut game. In attendance with the Koop were season ticket holders Marls and Jeff along with Koop's Altona posse of Jonny S. (a.k.a. Cheryl Koop's hubbie) El Duque and myself.

With the best seats in the house we eagerly anticipated a classic match-up that would have us poised on the edges of our collective seats. We got a bit of a stinker. 15-13 ain't too exciting but at least the Bombers won! Koop's Argos hat wasn't enough to inspire his double-blue towards victory.

Some highlights of the eve...

1. Bombers win!

2. The smokie-chips-drink pre-game combo

3. Milt's 138 touchdown video review

4. Being within ten feet of Mike Pringle (that guy could still kill me with one arm)

5. The Fonz (ehhhhhhhhhhh!!!!)

6. Jeff's sweet celebratory dance moves

7. Beers are only $6.50!

8. Pitchers at the Fox and Hounds are only $11.60!

9. Koop getting dissed by the middle-aged lady behind us ("Don't forget you're commemorative Bomber beer cup!)

10. And of course...seeing the Koop

Don't forget that next weeks picks could very well be the life or death of your season. The mandatory 5 point suicide week is in effect and major point movements could be in order. A short review...5 points per game with a positive five for a correct pick and negative 5 for incorrect. Possibilities? 25 points for a perfect week. Also a possibility? Minus 20 points for an 0-fer. Pick carefully.

WEEK EIGHT RESULTS

Well, another tie this week which wouldn't have posed much of a problem until Koopie decided to push the rules envelope and use his 5 point suicide week. So how were his points doled out? Well, since he picked BC and Saskatchewan he automatically got 5 points for the SK win. A BC win got him 5 but a Calgary win was a minus 5 so they cancelled each other out in my eyes and he ended up with a 5 point week. A bold move Koopie and one that might have turned out to be brilliant, if not for the tie!

As for the rest of us not much was decided. A few minor shifts (minor since we all got either 4 or 5 points!) but the same rules apply for points for week nine: one game worth 4 points and one worth two. Hopefully no more ties.

Don't forget that in Week Ten we have our first MANDATORY 5 point suicide week. This week will not count as your usual 5 pointer which will remain intact if currently unused. As for combining it with any other combination of extra-point options....negative. No "doubl-suicide" weeks or "four-point/suicde combos" allowed. Enough said.

WEEK SEVEN RESULTS

Perfect weeks were in the mix this week as the Poolies racked up seven in total. Nice work! Dr. Don Klassen charged hard but couldn't quite overtake National Spokesperson for the Advancement of Sideburns, Kevin Hilliard. The rest of the followers are tightening the race.

A matter of note, those goose eggs you see behind some poolies names are not due to forgetfulness. Well, okay...two are. But two aren't! Just good old-fashioned crappy picking, right Koopie? Looks like a tight foot-race between the Argos and the Tabbies for last in the East...

WEEK SIX RESULTS

Who is this man? Why is he leading the Pool?? How did he score a perfect week this week when no one else could???

Don't worry folks, theres lots of season left to catch him. Just like the drug-fuelled Peloton of the Tour de France we'll slowly reel him and his wonderous mutton-chops in...

As for the coming weeks...this week is a 4 gamer but after that we have two two-game weeks ahead. Suggestions? My thoughts had been to have one game worth 2 points and one worth 4 points. A perfect week would also include a 2 point bonus for a max. points of 8. Any other ideas. Majority rules on this one and the final decision will be meted out by Thursday night. Send out the emails...

Picks are due by Thursday August 9th at 6:30 Pm Central (7:30 Eastern, 5:30 Mountain)
